The Kingdom: How Fungi Made Our World
Saturday 1 December 4:00pm
Event Cinemas, Toowoomba Strand
Hidden from sight is a Kingdom that rules life on land. It’s an alien world with the largest and oldest organisms alive today. It was fungi that brought life back to Earth after the last mass extinction event and their untapped powers could help our species to survive on our increasingly poisoned, depleted and hotter planet. By looking at fungi in the context of evolution and natural history, scientists are making discoveries that will change our lives. Book tickets here
Screen Queensland’s Eye on the World regional screening program celebrates the films of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) and the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers (WCSFP) both proudly supported by the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland.
The APSAs honour cinematic excellence from 70 countries and areas in the Asia Pacific region, and recognise filmmaking that best reflect its cultural origins. The APSAs will take place in Brisbane tonight, Thursday 29 November. The World Congress of Science and Factual Producers (WCSFP) is currently being hosted by Brisbane until 30 November and brings together leading international content producers and scientists with broadcasters and key industry decision-makers across science, history, and other non-fiction content production.
SQ’s Eye on the World is bringing a taste of these prestigious events to regional Queensland and showcasing the best of factual programming through community screenings. The selection of documentaries from the APSAs and WCSFP will give regional Queenslanders the opportunity to explore new worlds on the big screen and connect with international filmmakers. Each screening will be followed by an up close and personal Q&A session with the filmmaker where members of the audience can ask questions and engage with the filmmaker.
