Learn the basics of the intricate trade of leatherplaiting in this three day workshop. Using Kangaroo leather, you will make your choice of an eight strand whip or a 13 strand belt. Kangaroo leather is often used by Australian leatherplaiters as it is one of the strongest leathers available. Its unique structure allows it to be cut very thin and still retain its strength. .Your tutor Bill Webb has been leatherplaiting for over 40 years. He started when he was just five years old and perfected his skill under the guidance of the late RM Williams. Bill is a four-time Dame Mary Durack Award Winner and took first and second places in the 2015 Australian Plaiting Championships. Age: 16 years and over.Requirements: Please wear closed in boots (or steel capped), long trousers and long sleeves.
